The anime adaptation of The Beginning After the End (TBATE) has become a hot topic in the anime community. Fans of the original web novel and comic were excited to see Arthur Leywin’s story come to life on screen. However, after just a few episodes, many have been left disappointed. Complaints about poor animation, especially in the fight scenes, have taken over social media. Episode 2 faced the most criticism, and some fans were so upset they even started a petition asking the studio to cancel the anime and start again.

Now, weeks after the anime's release, the author of TBATE, TurtleMe, has finally broken his silence. In a heartfelt post shared on the official Reddit community for the novel, he responded to the backlash, talked about the challenges of anime production, and asked fans for patience and support.

In his message, TurtleMe began by thanking fans for their continued love and passion for TBATE. He shared that even though things have become “loud,” he is touched by all the kind messages. He explained that creating an anime is very different from writing a novel or webcomic, where he had full control. In the anime industry, the original creator does not always get to make the final decisions.

TurtleMe added that many people across Tapas, Studio A-Cat, and Crunchyroll are working hard on the project, and everyone wants to make the anime the best it can be. He asked fans not to lose hope and reminded them how even the TBATE comic started off with struggles before it improved over time.

He compared the series to something you love deeply, like a pet or a child—saying that instead of giving up when things go wrong, it’s better to support it and help it grow stronger. He admitted that not every decision will be perfect but promised that everything he does comes from a place of respect—for his team, for his fans, and for the story.
In the end, TurtleMe asked fans to remain respectful, even if they are disappointed, and to continue being the strong support system that made TBATE a success in the first place.
