WWE Superstar Kevin Owens recently talked about how watching professional wrestling , especially Jim Ross's commentary, was crucial to his English language learning. The WWE superstar opened this up during a podcast on " Insight with Chris van Vliet ."
Owens, who was born in Canada's French-speaking province of Quebec, started watching professional wrestling when he was eleven years old. He recalled that although he first struggled with speaking English, he began to improve by listening to Ross's animated commentary on WWE broadcasts.
However, he was able to comprehend English effectively by the age of 14, and by the time he started wrestling training at the age of 17, he was fluent.
During the podcast, Owens said, "I started watching wrestling when I was 11, so I kind of started picking it up. And then I think I'd say by the time I was maybe 14, I couldn't speak English that well, but I understood everything. I like to say Jim Ross basically taught me English."
While further discussing how Jim Ross played a key role in his learning of the language, he revealed that he commonly used the word “ slobberknocker.”He further added, "So I actually thought that slobber knocker was part of the English language.
