Indore: Despite two consecutive three-wicket defeats to Australia and South Africa, India’s ace all-rounder Deepti Sharma remains optimistic about the women’s team’s World Cup campaign. Speaking to the media on Saturday, ahead of the must-win match against England at the Holkar Stadium in Indore, Sharma stated, “We have lost two matches, but our morale is very good because we played two good matches at the start.”
Hosts India are set to resume their campaign after a week’s break and must win at least two of their remaining three matches to guarantee a spot in the semifinals. Sharma noted that during the hiatus, the team devised specific strategies for the remaining games.

“It was a very good break. We have to realise how we can make better plans. As a team, we did a lot of bonding activities,” she said.
India, vulnerable against left-arm spinners, will face challenges from Sophie Ecclestone and Linsey Smith on Sunday. Sharma affirmed that the team has prepared for various obstacles.
Sharma holds extensive familiarity with the England squad, owing to her experience in international cricket , the Women’s Premier League (WPL) with the UP Warriorz, sharing the dressing room with Sophie Ecclestone, Danni Wyatt-Hodge and Lauren Bell , and her stint in The Hundred for the London Spirit .“I know how their bowling and batting set-ups are, as I have played a lot of matches against them. I also know that my plan is straightforward, as it’s about how much I can enjoy being in a game.”
