A federal judge on Thursday (local time) issued a temporary halt to US President Donald Trump ’s order to deploy the Texas National Guard to Chicago, rejecting claims of a “danger of rebellion” in Illinois.
District judge April Perry, ruling from the bench, said she had seen no evidence to support the Trump administration’s justification for sending troops against local Democratic officials’ wishes, the Chicago Tribune reported.
The judge’s temporary restraining order is set to remain in effect for about 14 days, according to local FOX affiliate FOX 32.
