NEW DELHI: To mark the success of ‘ Operation Sindoor ’ and honour war heroes and the armed forces, the railways will play patriotic jingles after announcements at stations as well as ‘earmark’ seats for defence personnel in all reserved coaches and waiting areas. The initiative also includes having exterior wraps on coaches to showcase the operation’s success.
The national transporter has started these activities at several stations and these will be extended to others as well, officials said. For example, the caller tune of the railway helpline number ‘139’ shares the achievements of the operation against cross-border terrorism. Stations will also showcase inspiring stories, notable events and photographs of local heroes, award winners and ‘Operation Sindoor’.
“Benches at stations and platforms, and seats in trains will be designated for personnel of the armed forces. These will cover all general, sleeper, 3AC, 2AC, and 1AC coaches. We expect people to leave the earmarked benches for such personnel at stations. The intent behind these initiatives is to show respect to those who save us by risking their lives,” said a railway official.
The railways will also host ‘ Vijay Jawan Run ’ at mid-size and small stations, starting with a torch relay, covering nearby villages. “In some of the events, war heroes and their families will be invited to participate, fostering a sense of gratitude and respect,” said an official.
