NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer in Mumbai on October 9 during his two-day visit to Maharashtra, officials said in a statement issued on Tuesday.
The visit will include high-level discussions to strengthen the India–UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and review the Vision 2035 Roadmap for bilateral cooperation.
PM Starmer will visit India at the invitation of PM Modi, the ministry of external affairs said on Saturday. This will be his first official visit to the country.
On October 8, PM Modi will inaugurate Phase 1 of Navi Mumbai International Airport, developed at a cost of around Rs 19,650 crore, and dedicate the entire Mumbai Metro Line-3 to the nation, completing a project valued at over Rs 37,270 crore.
He will also launch “Mumbai One”, India’s first integrated common mobility app covering 11 public transport operators across metro, monorail, suburban railways and buses, aimed at enhancing commuter convenience and last-mile connectivity.
During his two-day visit, PM Modi will also inaugurate the Short-Term Employability Program (STEP), introducing 2,500 new training batches across Maharashtra, including courses for women and emerging technologies such as AI, IoT, Electric Vehicles, Solar and Additive Manufacturing.
The official statement said that on October 9, PM Modi and PM Starmer will attend the CEO Forum at Jio World Center and the 6th edition of the Global Fintech Fest, where both leaders will deliver keynote addresses.
The fest, themed “Powered by AI, Augmented Intelligence, Innovation, and Inclusion”, is expected to attract over 100,000 participants from more than 75 countries, including 7,500 companies, 800 speakers, 400 exhibitors and 70 regulators.
The two Prime Ministers will also discuss opportunities presented by the India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and exchange views on regional and global issues, including trade, technology, defence and climate initiatives.
