JAMMU: Security forces launched Sunday a cordon and search operation on the outskirts of Jammu after a brief gunfire exchange between a soldier and terrorists in Army fatigue near Nagrota Military Station the previous night.
Sources said the exchange coincided with Pakistan’s drone attack and artillery shelling along the border, including Nagrota, late Saturday. “Searches resumed in the morning to trace the suspects and also to find the empty cartridges,” an official said. “Nothing substantial has been found so far.”
This confrontation adds to a series of security alerts and terrorist sightings across Jammu region in recent weeks. On April 25, police and central forces launched a search in Kathua district after a local woman reported seeing four suspicious men.
There have been some high-stakes pursuits in Kathua, Udhampur, Poonch, and Doda, but suspects continued evading capture by frequently shifting locations.
