The Supreme Court on Monday (April 21) confirmed that the investigation into YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, is complete in connection with FIRs filed over controversial remarks made during the YouTube show India's Got Latent.

The court has now scheduled a hearing on April 28 to consider Allahbadia’s plea seeking the return of his passport.

Chargesheet expected to be filed shortly

According to PTI, the apex court also asked the Assam police to clarify whether Ranveer Allahbadia is still required for any further investigation. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra police have completed their probe, and a chargesheet is expected to be filed shortly, as confirmed by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who appeared for both police departments.

Investigation completed

As reported by ANI, the bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh recorded that the investigation relating to Ranveer Allahbadia was complete, while also noting that in the Guwahati FIR, the statement of a co-accused still needs to be recorded.

Permission to resume podcast granted earlier

Earlier, on March 3, the court had permitted Allahbadia to resume his podcast The Ranveer Show, on the condition that the content maintains morality and decency and is appropriate for viewers of all age groups.

On February 18, Ranveer Allahbadia was granted interim protection from arrest by the top court after multiple FIRs were registered across states. The FIRs were based on allegedly objectionable comments made about sex and parenting during a comic YouTube discussion hosted by Samay Raina. The court had earlier directed Allahbadia to surrender his passport to the Nodal Cyber Police Station in Thane, while calling his remarks “vulgar” and reflective of a “dirty mind.”

Apart from Ranveer Allahbadia, the FIR in Assam also names Samay Raina, Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija.
