After years of not getting along, music legends Sir Elton John and Madonna have apparently decided to put their differences behind them. According to recent comments from Jake Shears, member of the pop group Scissor Sisters, there might even be a musical collaboration between the two iconic stars in the near future.
During an appearance on the ‘Sidetracked’ podcast hosted by Nick Grimshaw, Jake hinted that Elton John and Madonna might perform a duet. When asked whether Elton had written a song that the two could sing together, Jake kept things vague but made it clear that something interesting was on the way. He said that Elton had some “incredible” surprises in store, and added that the singer was known for keeping exciting things “up his sleeve.”
Reports suggest that Madonna had recently talked about a song Elton wrote for her, and this has led to speculation that it could turn into a duet. Jake’s comments only added more fuel to these rumors.
Madonna, who is 66, opened up about the reconciliation between her and Elton John, who is 78. She shared that watching Elton perform on the television show Saturday Night Live had a deep emotional impact on her. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Madonna said that she had always felt like an outsider while growing up. Seeing Elton perform on stage back then made her feel seen and taught her that being different was not just acceptable but important. She added that it was painful to know that someone she admired for so long had openly disliked her as an artist. Madonna revealed that when she found out Elton was the musical guest on SNL, she made the decision to attend and reconnect.
Elton also spoke about the moment, saying that he was glad they could leave the past behind and move forward. He expressed concern over how divided the world has become and felt that repairing their relationship was a step in the right direction.
Jake Shears, who is close to Elton, gave more insight into the music legend’s personality. He mentioned that Elton is very supportive of new music and often encourages new artists. However, Jake also pointed out that Elton can be tough to impress. He shared that sometimes, even when he thinks Elton will enjoy a song, the singer might strongly dislike it. Despite this, Jake emphasized that Elton is incredibly passionate about music and is very vocal when he genuinely likes something.
While there is no official confirmation yet, fans of both Madonna and Elton John are now eagerly waiting to see if this potential duet will happen, especially after years of public tension between the two.
