Prince Edward, The Duke of Kent, will celebrate his 90th birthday today. The Duke, who was a cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth II, is set to spend the day with his nearest and dearest.
While no details have been publicly shared, it is likely the duke will mark the occasion at his Kensington Palace home, Wren House. This is believed to be where the duke spends the majority of his time.
To celebrate the duke's 90th birthday, here at Express.co.uk we have looked at the life of the duke so far...
The Duke of Kent is a working member of the Royal Family. At 90 years old, he is the oldest working royal and has been carrying out engagements for the monarchy for decades, continuing to appear at royal events to this day.
The Duke, who is the son of the late Prince George and Princess Marina, the Duke and Duchess of Kent, began his life as a working royal after retiring from the British Army in 1976.
He is involved with over 140 different charities, organisations and professional bodies in a range of different areas and industries.

The duke is related to the Royal Family as he is a grandson of King George V and Queen Mary.
This means he is a cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth II, who he was often seen supporting on the royal stage.
His siblings Princess Alexandra and Prince Michael were also cousins to the late Queen and like the duke, support the Royal Family to this day.

While the duke is likely to be surrounded by family on his special birthday today, it is likely to also have a tinge of sadness. This is because the duke's wife Katharine, The Duchess of Kent, sadly passed away just weeks ago.
At the age of 92, Katharine passed away at Kensington Palace surrounded by family on September 4.
Her funeral then took place on September 16, marking the first Catholic funeral service held for a member of the royal family in modern British history.
The duke was present at the funeral of his wife, who he married in 1961.

The Duke of Kent has three children who are all believed to be very present in his life.
His eldest son George, Earl of Andrews, was born in 1962, followed by Lady Helen Taylor in 1964 and Lord Nicholas Windsor in 1970.
The duke and his wife also had a stillborn son Patrick in 1977. The duke also has 10 grandchildren.
The Duke of Kent is well as he turns 90 today, however he has had some health challenges in the past.
In 2013 at the age of 77, the duke suffered a "mild stroke" and received hospital treatment. Two years later in 2015, the duke then had hospital treatment for a dislocated hip - an injury that happened when he was staying at Balmoral in Scotland.
In 2017, the late Queen's cousin then missed some engagements as a result of a chest infection.
Most recently in 2023, the duke then had to miss some royal engagements as a result of "episodic mobility problems", with the duke now often seen using a walking aid.
The Duke of Kent does still attend royal events, and has been seen a handful of times this year on the royal stage.
In May this year, the duke stepped out with other senior royals to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day. As well as watching the parade down The Mall, he also made an appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony. Just days later, the duke was then spotted in attendance at a Thanksgiving Service on the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
In June, the royal was then present for Trooping the Colour celebrations and the annual Order of the Garter Service at Windsor.
His last public appearance was at his wife's funeral last month in London.
