
Italian Open star Lorenzo Musetti had a post-match interview crashed by his one-year-old son Ludovico after getting the better of Otto Virtanen in Rome. The 23-year-old booked a second-round showdown with Brandon Nakashima after overcoming Virtanen 6-3, 6-2.
Musetti has enjoyed a sensational few weeks on the and has climbed to No. 9 in the world rankings after reaching the ahead of an appearance in the semi-finals of the Madrid Open. He defeated and in both of those tournaments and will be aiming to be in the mix for silverware at the , which begins later this month.
Musetti sat down for a chat with the following his victory over Virtanen and was watched by his son, who was being looked after just off camera.
The presenter said he was "getting a big smile" from Ludovico and labelled the youngster a "big star".
The interview soon took a backseat as the camera panned to the boy, who was wearing a jumper with a blue truck on the front of it.
Musetti then held his son's hand and waved to him as he kept hold of the microphone with his other hand. And the tennis player exclaimed: "He wants the mic."
Musetti became a father for the first time last year when his partner Veronica Confalonieri gave birth to Ludovico.
And discussing parenthood during an interview with the same broadcaster in November, the Italian said: "With the birth of my son, Ludovico, that gave me a lot of responsibility on also Lorenzo the player and not just of the figure of the father. So definitely in those terms, I think I improved a lot.
"Even if I think I have to do more and that will bring me probably even more results."
He then explained: "Honestly, I was pretty scared of everything but it goes really naturally. All the things like holding the baby.
"I was really scared of holding him and then when the nurse was giving me him for the first time, I was holding him like really in a natural way. Me and Veronica, my partner. I think we are doing a good job."
And he added: "For these seven months, they were really going really fast and I saw a lot of changes in him and I could only think about the future when we will start to walk, when he starts to talk and when he starts to understand what I'm doing for a living."
