Ozzy Osbourne is set to be laid to rest today in Birmingham, with the family saying goodbye to the Black Sabbath rocker in a private ceremony after a public procession down Broad Street and to the band's eponymous bridge. The star died at the age of 76 just weeks after his final show with his band - and fans can expect a whole host of A-listers to turn out at his funeral.

Elton John is expected to be in attendance for the Prince of Darkness's farewell, along with his Black Sabbath bandmates. A source told The Sun: "His Sabbath bandmates, Tony Iommi, Bill Ward and Geezer Butler, will be there, along with James Hetfield from Metallica.

"Elton John is also hoping to join the family at the church. Sharon and his family have been so touched by messages they received not only from Ozzy's friends, but also his fans around the world."

Singer Yungblud is also expected to be in attendance after forming a close friendship with Ozzy in his final years, and will give a reading at the funeral.

Meanwhile, his wife Sharon Osbourne, along with Ozzy's children Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis, will travel in cars behind the hearse. A closed service will take place at a church in Gerrards Cross, Bucks.

Today (July 30), the cortege will travel down Birmingham's Broad Street accompanied by a brass band performance from locals Bostin' Brass. A livestream will be available online so fans can watch from home.

Lord Mayor Zafar Iqbal commented: "Ozzy was more than a music legend - he was a son of Birmingham.

"Having recently been awarded the Freedom of the City and following his celebrated appearance at the Back to the Beginning concert at Villa Park earlier this month, it was important to the city that we support a fitting, dignified tribute.

"We're proud to host it here with his loving family, and we are grateful they have generously offered to pay to enable this to happen."
