Fortnite developer Epic Games has finally announced plans to release a new update for PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Nintendo Switch and mobile.

Fortnite update 37.20 has been given a September 10 release date. As a numbered update, it will be accompanied by a period of server downtime, which kicks off at 9am BST UK time.

This means no Fortnite or any of its companion game modes for at least a couple of hours.

The update was announced by Epic Games, although the exact contents of the update are somewhat of a mystery.

"A game update will be released tomorrow!" Epic Games confirms. "Downtime for v37.20 begins at 4 AM ET with matchmaking ending shortly beforehand."

As you can see from the tweet, the game will be offline in full at 9am BST, while matchmaking will be disabled at around 8.30am BST.

While Epic Games is tight-lipped about the update, insiders such as Shiina and Hypex have a pretty good idea about what to expect.

Streamer Kai Cenat will reportedly be added as the next mainstream Icon, while the 1989 Batmobile will be available soon.

There are also reports that online co-op horror game R.E.P.O could be introduced as the next video game crossover.

Needless to say, other new skins will be announced, alongside potential Fortnitemares content for October.

That's on top of the usual array of bug fixes, which you can read about in the early patch notes below.
