
The body of a woman has been found at an outdoor pool in Bilston, . The remains were found at around 9am on Friday, May 9, after were called to the pool off Prouds Lane. Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene, but nothing could be done to save the woman, who was pronounced dead shortly after she was found, reports.
West Midlands Police said the death was being treated as unexplained and has made an appeal for public information. Officers are reportedly still working at the scene to ascertain the cause of the incident.
"The body of a woman was found in a pool off Prouds Lane, Bilston, at around 9am," a spokesperson said.
"We attended along with the fire service and paramedics, but the woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
"Her death is currently being treated as unexplained as we continue enquiries to establish what has happened. Anyone with information can contact us via 101 or Live Chat quoting log 802 of May 9."
The market town of Bilston lies around two miles outside Wolverhampton city centre and was once a industrial hub of enameling and steel production.
It has seen substantial development in recent years focused on residential and regeneration projects, and has a 50% higher regional crime rate than the West Midlands average, according to CrimeRate.co.uk.
The West Midlands Fire Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
