Barclays, NatWest and Lloyds among banks closing 83 branches in May - full list

, , and are among a number of banks closing branches this month, with more than 80 set to shut up shop for good. It's part of a broader trend over the past few years of banks closing high street branches as customers increasingly move to online banking.

According to , banks and building societies have shut 6,303 branches since January 2015, representing a rate of about 53 each month. That amounts to 64% of the branches that were open at the beginning of 2015, the site adds. Various banks and building societies are closing branches this month, including , which is shutting 21 branches.

The banking giant has put down to changing customer behaviour, reporting a 62% drop in over-the-counter transactions between 2019 and last year.

Meanwhile TSB is set to either shut down or relocate 12 locations over the next two months, including five closures in May, as it implents a wider restructuring plan in 2025, reports.

Meanwhile the Bank of Scotland is set to close nine branches in May, while Barclays are reportedly closing three.

Additionally, Halifax will be shutting up shop in 17 locations, Lloyds Bank is set to close 27 branches, the outlet reports. An Ulster Bank branch in Northern Ireland will also be serving customers for the last time this month.
