Bhubaneswar: Noted poet and writer Devdas Chhotray will be conferred with 46th Sarala Puraskar for his short story collection ‘Matinee Show’.
He will receive a citation and cash reward of Rs 7 lakh as part of the literary award instituted by Indian Metals Public Charitable Trust (IMPaCT), at a ceremony in Bhubaneswar on October 26.
A prominent figure in Odia literature, Chhotray’s ‘Matinee Show’ was picked for the award from seven finalists, including works by Aparnna Mohanty, Mamata Dash, Padmaj Paul, Ashutosh Parida, and Bijay Kumar Satpathy.
‘Matinee Show’ was published by Timepass Publication in 2023.
The IMPaCT further announced that the Ila-Bansidhar Panda Kala Samman for lifetime excellence in the field of art for this year would be conferred on two eminent artists – Baladev Maharatha (visual arts) and Guru Ramhari Das (performing arts). Both of them will receive a certificate, plaque and cash reward of Rs 2.5 lakh each.
The Sarala Puraskar was instituted by eminent Odia industrialist Bansidhar Panda and his wife Ila Panda in 1980.
