A food critic has subjected a posh £16 fried chicken to the ultimate challenge – pitting it against beloved fast food giant KFC. Carmie Sellitto, who frequently goes viral sharing his reviews of premium food purchases with his 1.2 million TikTok followers, decided to test whether the expensive Harrods food hall offering could justify its hefty price tag.
In his latest video, the 26-year-old Londoner compared the luxury dish against KFC's popular popcorn chicken, which costs just £5 alongside a pot of gravy. Remarkably, he revealed he had never sampled KFC before this taste test, reports Bristol Live.
After trying the budget option first, he declared: "Wow, that's really good. It's cooked perfectly, it's got a nice crunch, and I like the seasoning on that.

"For £5, this is definitely worth the money." However, the real challenge lay in determining whether the Harrods alternative, costing more than three times the price, could deliver even better value.
Carmie said: "Let's see if it tastes three times better." He immediately noted the dramatic size difference between the two portions when holding them up for comparison.
He observed: "The size difference is crazy." Upon tasting the premium option, his reaction was emphatic: "Oh my god. It's probably some of the best chicken I've ever had in my life.
"The seasoning they've put on this is absolutely perfect." When he dipped the Harrods chicken into the KFC gravy, he was rendered speechless, simply stating: "No words.
"I've just realised I must be the first person to ever try Harrods chicken with KFC gravy." He ultimately rates the KFC version an 8.5/10, while Harrods gets a 9.5/10.
He said: "Harrods wins!" Carmie previously made headlines after reviewing the most expensive coffee in the UK, which costs an eye-watering £265. He told What's The Jam: "I thought it tasted just like a normal coffee.
"I couldn't believe this place was selling a coffee for this much money. It obviously wasn't worth the £265.
"You could get something for £3 that would taste exactly the same."
