Mumbai: In a significant development related to the Sachin Kurmi murder case, a protest banner has been put up in front of the Mumbai Police Commissioner’s office announcing an indefinite hunger strike starting May 1.
The family members — mainly Sachin's wife Anupama Kurmi, his brother Mahesh Kurmi, and other supporters — dissatisfied with the pace of the investigation and demanding swift justice, have decided to intensify their agitation. The banner installed outside the CP office symbolizes the growing frustration among Kurmi’s family and serves as a public appeal for action.

Anupama Kurmi will begin her hunger strike at the very spot where Sachin Kurmi was murdered, starting May 1. The family is demanding the immediate arrest of the mastermind behind the killing and has called on both the state government and Mumbai Police to act decisively.
As part of their protest strategy, around 45 banners were put up across South Mumbai to highlight the case and rally public support. However, some of these banners were later removed by authorities. We are determined to fight for justice, said Mahesh Kurmi, speaking to The Free Press Journal.
Mumbai Crime Branch’s Unit 3 has arrested 5 accused including Dilip Wagaskar, deputy coordinator of the Byculla assembly constituency from the Shiv Sena (Shinde) faction in connection with the murder of NCP taluka president Sachin Kurmi. Kurmi was gruesomely killed on October 4 near his residence in Ghodapdeo.
