Navi Mumbai: A scooty rider lost his life while his wife and sister-in-law were critically injured after a speeding tanker rammed into their vehicle on Wednesday evening. The accident took place on the flyover near Kalamboli along the Sion-Panvel highway.
The deceased, Pradeep Chandrakant Kamble (32), was riding triple seat with his wife Anjali Kamble (26) and sister-in-law Jyoti Girju Kirve (24) when the incident occurred. Pradeep, a resident of Shirgaon in Badlapur, had visited Kharghar with his wife for work, while Jyoti had also come to Kharghar the same day. Around 6 PM, the three were on their way to drop Jyoti at her home in Kamothe when the mishap happened.
"As the trio reached the Taloja Phata flyover, a speeding tanker struck their Jupiter scooty from behind, causing all three to fall and suffer severe injuries. They were rushed to the hospital, but Pradeep was declared dead before admission. His wife and sister-in-law remain in critical condition," a police official said.
Kalamboli Police have arrested the tanker driver, Vijaypratap Yadav, and registered a case of negligent driving against him.
