Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A case of gruesome murder was reported from Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur, where a headless and decomposed body of a man was found in five pieces in a drain under Gohalpur police station area, as reported by police on Wednesday.
The head of the body is still missing, therefore, forensic experts and a dog squad were also called in to gather evidence.
According to information, locals found the body in the drain near Nandan Vihar Colony after which they immediately informed the police.
The body parts - both arms, both legs, and the torso – are believed to be around 3 to 4 days old. A team from Gohalpur Police Station and the Crime Branch reached the scene and collected the remains.
According to police, the body was badly decomposed. It suggested the body had been in the drain for several days in the intense summer heat.
Tattoos in body’s wrist
What stood out were the tattoos on the victim’s wrist - the names ‘MANJU’ and ‘PARAM’ - which may help in identifying the deceased.
The manner in which the body was cut indicates that the crime may have been committed by a professional killer.
Preliminary investigation indicated a personal grudge or revenge could be the motive behind the murder.
Victim still unidentified
Gohalpur Police Station in-charge, Pratiksha Marko, confirmed the incident and assured all efforts are being made to identify the victim and track down the killers.
Police are checking CCTV footage from nearby areas and cross-checking with missing persons reports.
