Rajasthan Royals' young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi made a sparkling entry into the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Saturday, becoming the youngest player in the tournament’s history to take the field — and he did so in style.
The 14-year-old left-hander lit up Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium by launching the very first ball he faced for a towering six, instantly joining an elite club of players who have kickstarted their IPL careers with a six off their first delivery.
Facing Lucknow Super Giants, Suryavanshi smashed pacer Avesh Khan over covers with fearless intent, leaving fans and teammates stunned.
He went on to score a confident 34 off just 20 balls, laced with two fours and three sixes, striking at a brisk rate of 170.00. His knock included a crucial 85-run opening partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal, giving RR a solid platform in their chase of 181.
