Tanushree Dutta, the actress known for igniting the #MeToo movement in India, recently claimed that she has been receiving offers to join Bigg Boss for the past 11 years—but she has consistently turned them down. The Salman Khan-hosted reality show is currently airing its 19th season and, ever since its premiere, has dominated the TRP charts. During a recent conversation, the former Miss India Universe and Bollywood actress shared the reason behind her decision to reject the offers.
Tanushree Dutta reveals rejecting Bigg Boss Offers
Tanushree Dutta has made it clear that she has no intention of ever joining Bigg Boss, no matter how tempting the offer. In an interview with Bollywood Thikana, she claimed that even a hefty offer of Rs 1.65 crore couldn’t change her mind. With strong words, she called the show’s format “invasive” and said it’s simply not something she would ever consider.
Speaking candidly, Tanushree shared that she has received multiple calls and requests from the Bigg Boss team over the years, including one from the show’s stylist, who even promised to take care of her diet. But her answer has always been a firm no. According to her, Bigg Boss just doesn’t align with her personality or lifestyle. “I can’t live in a space like that. I don’t even live with my family,” she said.
The actress, best known for her debut film Aashiq Banaya Aapne (2005), said she values her privacy and dignity too much to take part in a show where people live under constant surveillance. “Men and women sleep in the same hall, they fight, cry, and share beds. Do I seem like the kind of woman who will sleep on the same bed with a man for a reality show? I’m not that cheap,” she added.
Tanushree also spoke about the importance of mental peace and personal health, explaining that her diet and energy are closely linked. Even with promises of special treatment on the show, she felt the environment wouldn’t suit her. “I know I can earn more than what they’re offering me if I’m just allowed to work in peace,” she said.

Beyond her views on reality TV, Tanushree has had a noteworthy career. After her debut, she appeared in films like Chocolate, Bhagam Bhag, Saas Bahu Aur Sensex, and Rokkk. Her last screen appearance was in the TV series SuperCops vs. Super Villains in 2013.
Tanushree also played a major role in India’s #MeToo movement in 2018, when she revived earlier allegations of harassment, reportedly against actor Nana Patekar and director Vivek Agnihotri. While legal proceedings followed, her voice helped spark an industry-wide conversation about workplace safety.
Bigg Boss 19 is currently streaming on JioCinema/JioHotstar at 9 PM daily, followed by its television telecast on Colors TV at 10:30 PM.
