Remember Vijayalakshmi from Kangana Ranaut’s 2014 blockbuster ‘Queen’? Although the role was brief, Lisa Haydon shone as Kangana’s character Rani’s carefree and outgoing bestie. Haydon, who bid adieu to Bollywood after marrying a UK-based entrepreneur, Dino Lalvani, in 2016, recently shared pictures of her family enjoying a vacation on Instagram.
Born to an Indian father and an Australian mother, Lisa moved to India to pursue a modelling career in 2007. In India, she has graced prestigious runways such as the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) and the HDIL India Couture Week (HDIL-ICW). She is also recognized as the face of the renowned beauty brand Lakmé.
Over the years, she has appeared in several high-profile advertising campaigns for leading brands, including Hyundai i20, Indigo Nation, Myntra.com, and Blender’s Pride. In 2010, she gained widespread attention when she starred in a commercial alongside Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan.
In 2010, she made her cinematic debut in the Sonam Kapoor-starrer ‘Aisha’ (an adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic ‘Emma’). In the movie, she essayed the character of Abhay Deol’s character Arjun’s friend, Aarti Menon.
However, it was the Vikas Bahl directorial ‘Queen’ that made her a household name. The film was a runaway hit at the box-office, and along with Ranaut, Lisa’s effortless performance as her bestie, the fun-loving Vijayalakshmi, was much appreciated by the audience.
Post Queen, she was seen in a handful of films such as ‘The Shaukeens,’ ‘Housefull 3,’ and ‘Ai Dil Hai Mushkil.’ In 2016, she went on a permanent hiatus after she got married to Lalvani. He is the son of telecom magnate Gulu Lalvani, the co-founder of Binatone, a Hong Kong-based company known for its consumer electronics and personal care products.
Dino Lalvani currently serves as the Chairman of Binatone, overseeing the company’s global operations. In addition to this role, he is the founder of Hubble, an Internet of Things (IoT) venture dedicated to developing innovative connected devices and smart nursery solutions.
In a recent conversation with The Times of India, Lisa said that she never lost her passion for acting, but her kids are her priority these days.
“I never consciously stepped away or consciously made a comeback. Life comes in seasons. I’ve always followed whatever has felt right in that moment. It’s not so much about going away or then coming back or making a statement about acting not being my priority. I would love to work. I’ve never lost my love for it, but I just see life with its ebbs and flows. I’m glad that I had kids when I was young so I can return to work,” she said.
While she was always open for a good role, the actress said she was not “craving” for it.
She has two sons and a daughter.
In an old interview with PTI (2012), the diva had complained of being stereotyped. “You suffer a lot of prejudices coming from a modeling background. People really only want to see you look good. I’m so tired of being offered good-looking roles,” she said.
Lisa is busy being a model these days. In September, she graced the runway at the prestigious Dubai Fashion Week, leaving a striking impression with her poise and elegance. Earlier, she modeled for designer Rahul Mishra’s latest bridal collection in Paris, showcasing exquisite couture pieces that highlighted her sophistication.
Just a few months prior, in July, she had also walked the ramp at Paris Couture Week, further cementing her presence in the international fashion circuit. Renowned as the ambassador for several leading brands, Lisa is most notably associated with Lakmé. She is frequently spotted in advertisements and promotional campaigns for top names such as Nykaa, Tanishq, and various other luxury and lifestyle labels.
