Amidst the ongoing wave of film re-releases, the makers of Raanjhanaa have taken the trend a notch higher by re-releasing the film with a completely new climax, one that has been crafted using AI technology.
The New Climax Of RaanjhanaaAccording to various clips floating online, Kundan survives the bomb blast in the climax and gets up from the deathbed, which is contrary to the original ending where he dies and Zoya goes to jail.

Many makers, including Neeraj Pandey and Raanjhanaa’s director Anand L. Rai, bashed the producers for the new climax and said that it is a complete violation of the director’s and writer’s creativity.
And after those veteran makers, the leading man of Raanjhanaa, Dhanush himself, called out the producers of the movie and said that the new climax has disturbed him.
In a tweet, he wrote on X, “The re-release of Raanjhanaa with an Al-altered climax has completely disturbed me. This alternate ending has stripped the film of its very soul, and the concerned parties went ahead with it despite my clear objection.”
He added, “This is not the film I committed to 12 years ago. The use of AI to alter films or content is a deeply concerning precedent for both art and artists. It threatens the integrity of storytelling and the legacy of cinema. I sincerely hope that stricter regulations are put in place to prevent such practices in the future.”

Dhanush’s comment has divided the internet. While many fans agreed with him, many of them said that people need to calm down, as it is just a changed ending and is not a big deal.
One user commented, “I don't understand what is the problem with this?? We saw the original film. We know the original ending. That ending will stay as it is. This is just a short re-release with an alternate ending which some people wanted to see. It's not a big deal @dhanushkraja . Calm down!”

Another user commented, “Dhanush I disagree with you only because you don’t entirely own the film. An alternate ending was a tribute to the fans who wanted the character uniting with his love. There shouldn’t be regulations on creative freedom of expression which is a universal human right. Stay blessed.”

One user reacted, “‘This is not the film I committed to 12 years ago.’ @dhanushkraja’s words cut deep. AI’s potential is thrilling, but rewriting a classic’s soul crosses a line. Let’s champion innovation and respect for creators—time for clear guardrails to keep cinema authentic.”

Another user reacted, “With due respect to Dhanush’s perspective, I believe this is a discourse that needs to evolve not conclude. Art has always been shaped by the tools of its time from paintbrush to camera, from typewriter to screenplay software. Now it’s AI. To reject it outright may be.”

To reject it outright may be…
On the work front, Dhanush is working on Tere Ishk Mein, which is another passionate love story starring him and Kriti Sanon from the world of Raanjhanaa.
The film is directed by Anand L. Rai.
